Compare American and Canadian views on the size of government

The system of government in place in the US is very much centered around federalism and the effectiveness of government on a national level; hence the adoption and widespread implementation of direct democracy and even capitalism can be attributed to this form of government. While the states do retain autonomy, it is less centralized and more concerned with politics on a national scale. Canada on the other hand is considered a monarchy and works very much like Parliament in Great Britain behaves thus it carries more parallels with Britain than the US in terms of government.
