You have to know why you are doing the titration, and the relationships of the reactants, and to make sure you are using the proper indicator to enable you to find the equivalence point.
For example:  H3PO4  +  3NaOH  Rightwards Arrow  Na3PO4 +  3 H2O.
The ratios  are indicated and the type of acid and base used..

It is used in the normal titration calculations via this relationship.
Suppose substance A reacts with substance B, then:

Moles of A in eqtn/moles of B in eqtn = vol x molarity A/ vol x molarity B

It is vital that the original equation is correctly balanced
