protease is an enzyme which breaks down proteins to amino acids. Without protease it would not be possible for the body to ingest the proteins and use. The protein would not be degraded to amino acid and putrefaction or decay would take place which would cause toxicosis of the liver due to accumulation of urea. Excess secretion of protease would result in breakdown of protein in the muscles which would effect deficiency.
