I'm trying to figure out is there a tRNA anticodon that will fit the stop codon? If not is that the reason it stops?

Instead of a tRNA carrying an amino acid, a "release factor" binds to one of the stop codons (UAG, UAA, or UGA). I believe that the release factor still contains an anticodon on it, hence why it can hydrogen-bond to the codon in the first place.

Anyway, release factors work simply because there is no amino acid on it; there is nothing for the polypeptide to form a peptide bond with. Thus, the polypeptide is released.
