I have no clue how to memorize all 40 of them in a couple of days.

Write them down on 3x5 cards with the symbol on one side and the name spelled out on the other side.  Go over them until you know them.

It takes work.  You will benefit from the experience once you know the names and formulas.

there are 60 and its easy if you take the easy one (ex: mercurous hg2+) and memorize all the easy ones that move to harder
