Aluminum Sulfate, Sodium Silicates, and Polyaluminum Chloride are some common deinking chemicals.
  What is it for?...

Deinking chemicals are used to promote the release and removal of inks from secondary fibres. Essentially, the process of deinking is similar to washing. All paper inks can be divided into three components, namely the pigment, the vehicle and the modifier. The vehicle is the most important component in determining the ease in which ink will be removed from fibre. The vehicle is the binder that attaches the pigment particles together and to the surface of the printed paper, together with the solvent that gives the ink some fluidity. Once the ink has been removed from the fibre, it must be removed from the stock. This can be achieved through flotation to the surface, then mechanical removal. Flotation depends on changes to the particle surface chemistry to increase the attractive forces between the ink particles and air bubbles.
