In glycolysis, glucose is broken down to pyruvate, generating 2 ATP in the process. Under aerobic conditions, the pyruvate enters the tricarboxylic acid cycle (or citric acid cycle, whichever) and generates the molecules needed for the electron transport chain to fire up. This chain produces around 36 ATP.

The answer is 38 moles of ATP.
