Hi Folks -

I'd like a reading/book recommendation, please.

I'd like the book to be on any biology topic (in fact, any hard science topic), and I would like the technical level and 'readability' to be as high as the following books that I've read: 'The Selfish Gene', 'The Botany of Desire', or 'Cooked' (a book by Michael Pollan that has some semi-technical health information), assuming you are familiar with those books.   An example of a non-biology book that I consider to be at a similar level of technical/readable includes Guns, Germs, and Steel.

In other words, I'm not looking for a textbook, because readability and quality of writing is very important to me.

Thanks for any suggestions.
