1) 2.88 g of HCl(g) is dissolved in water to make a 470 mL solution. Calculate the pH of the solution.

2)200 mg of solid potassium hydroxide is dissolved in water to make a 450 mL solution. Calculate the pH of the solution.

Convert 2.88 g HCl into moles and divide by .470 L to get H ion molarity.  The do the -log of the H ion concentration to get p;H.  Remember since it is a strong acid, you should get a low pH.

Same thing except you will get the OH concentration so the -log gets you pOH which is subtracted from 14 to get the pH.
