We now understand that mutations that cause the inhibition of apoptosis are found in tumors. Because proliferation itself is not induced by the inhibition of apoptosis, explain how this inhibition might contribute to tumor formation.

I think the answer is straight forward. If apoptosis is inhibited, cells lack the ability to self-destruct. This allows cells to grow and divide continously without ever dying, except if they run out of an food source (energy source).
Biology - The only science where multiplication and division mean the same thing.
