Calculate the molarity (M) for each of these solutions--you must show all work in detail to receive credit: (a) 121.45 g of KOH in 100.0 mL, (b) 23.49 g of NH4OH in 150.0 mL, (c) 217.5 g of LiNO3 in 1.50 L, (d) 15.25 g of Pb(C2H3O2)2 in 50.0 mL

Calculate the molarity (M) for each of these solutions--you must show all work in detail to receive credit: (a) 31.45 g of NaCl in 1.50 L, (b) 14.41 g of MgS in 0.750 L, (c) 0.4567 g of CuSO4 in 825 mL, (d) 25.5 mg of NaCN in 5.00 mL

Calculate the molarity (M) for each of these solutions--you must show all work in detail to receive credit:

Solution :- formula to calculate the molarity is

Molarity = moles / L solution

Formula to calculate the moles is

Moles = mass in gram / molar mass

(a) 31.45 g of NaCl in 1.50 L,

Moles of NaCl = 31.45 g / 58.443 g per mol = 0.5381 mol

Molarity = 0.5381 mol / 1.50 L

                = 0.359 M

(b) 14.41 g of MgS in 0.750 L,

Moles of MgS = 14.41 g / 56.371 g per mol

                          = 0.2556 mol

Molarity = 0.2556 mol / 0.750 L

               = 0.341 M

(c) 0.4567 g of CuSO4 in 825 mL,(0.825 L)

Moles of CuSO4 = 0.4567 g / 159.61 g per mol

                              = 0.002861 mol

Molarity = 0.002861 mol / 0.825 L

                 = 0.00347 M

(d) 25.5 mg of NaCN in 5.00 mL (0.005 l)

Moles of Mg = (25.5 mg *1g / 1000 mg) / 49.01 g per mol

                       = 0.00052 mol

Molarity = 0.00052 mol / 0.005 L

                  = 0.104 M
