Hi again,

This process is called as chemiosmosis. Proton gradient is increased in the intermembrane space of the mitochondria, and a protein called Complex V (five) allows this protons (or hydrogen ions) to leak into the inner side of the mitochondria. While the protons pass through the Complex V, the ATP Synthase molecule synthesizes ATP by using the energy of the proton gradient.

This is called as "substrate-level phosphorylation". In this process, a molecule of phosphate is added to ADP to create ATP.

The third one is called as "Electron Transport Chain". Many protein complexes (Complex I, II, III and IV) are responsible for this process. Electrons gathered in the former steps of respiration- glycolysis and Citric Acid Cycle- are transported between these Complexes for oxidizing NADH and FADH2.
