I believe the question is referring to energy source, as in glucose/glycogen(probably form the liver I would guess) or free fatty acids, and amino acids. This is following exercise when ATP levels are low and much of the "batteries(creatine phosphate, muscle glycogen store)" are used up. However I can not find the answer, and I've looked all over my notes.

From the way the question is stated, I would say glucose that has been released from the liver (gluconeogenesis).
