A patient is prescribed 40 mEq potassium as a replacement. The nurse realizes that this replacement should be administered
1. directly into the venous access line.
2. mixed in the prescribed intravenous fluid.
3. via a rectal suppository.
4. via intramuscular injection.

2 -- The intravenous route is the recommended route for diluted potassium. Never administer undiluted potassium directly into a vein. It is not administered rectally. It is not given via IM injection.
Don't forget to give me a thumbs up!
