Let him/her post the questions and follow forum rules. This is not a cheating ground.

One/two questions per thread, and they will be answered as soon as one of us sees it.

Of course! This is the same thing I expressed in the PM. Thanks.

Activity 1
1) Explain how the body establishes a pressure gradient for fluid flow?

2) Explain the effect that the flow tube radius change had on flow rate?

3) Describe the effect that radius changes have on the laminar flow of a fluid?

4) Why do you think the plot was not linear?

Activity 2
1) Describe the components in the blood that affect viscosity?

2)Explain the effect that the viscosity change had on the flow rate?

3) Describe the graph of flow versus viscosity?

4) Discuss the effect that polycythemia would have on the viscosity and on blood flow?

1) Explain how the body establishes a pressure gradient for fluid flow?

The body establishes a pressure gradient for fluid flow due to the pressure difference between the two ends of the vessel.

2) Explain the effect that the flow tube radius change had on flow rate?

Increasing the flow tube radius resulted in an increase in the flow rate.

Of course! This is the same thing I expressed in the PM. Thanks.

Slight Smile Hope I didn't come across as being mad.

Discuss the effect that polycythemia would have on the viscosity and on blood flow

Polycythemia is an increase in the red blood cell numbers. This would result in an increase in viscosity and a corresponding decrease in blood flow.

No you didn't come acress mad at all.  I have spent hours on this assignment and am just confused.

To the other question asked......  The book I am using has a nurse or doctor with a face mask on looking down.  It is PhysioEx 9.0  Laboratory Simulations in Physiology

Activity 2
1) Describe the components in the blood that affect viscosity?

The hematocrit typically accounts for the viscous component. Other components include the buffy coat and plasma which decrease viscosity.

2)Explain the effect that the viscosity change had on the flow rate?

As viscosity increases, the substance 's ability to flow becomes hindered. Flow decreases with viscosity.

3) Describe the graph of flow versus viscosity?

I would expect the graph to be sigmoidal.

4) Discuss the effect that polycythemia would have on the viscosity and on blood flow?

Polycythemia means increased levels of RBCs, and thus a higher hematocrit content and a higher viscosity.
