I had to come up with a research question, and lab design. The problem is, I have no clue how to conduct this experiment. How can you measure the speed of sound? How can you control temperature (oh, the medium is just air by the way). Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Remember the game with the cups? Where you put the string in the bottom of two cups in two different rooms and listen to each other talking? You could do that in an air conditioned room and in a sauna or in a room with the heat turned up really high and use a stopwatch to time how long it takes for the other person to hear the vibrations in each room.

Ask Google for an experiment of measuring the speed of sound:

Do it at different temperatures.

Air pressure as well as air density have no influence on the speed of sound.
It is only the temperature.

The static air pressure p_ and the density ? of air (air density) are proportional at the same temperature. The ratio p_ / ? is always constant, on a high mountain or even on sea level altitude.

Forget the air pressure, but look accurately at the very important temperature.
1°C change of temperature is equal to 60 cm/s change of speed of sound.
At a temperature of  20°C we find a speed of sound of 343 m/s.
