What is the different between lectin and glycoprotein? Definition of lectins (Wikipedia) is that they are carbohydrate binding proteins or glycoprotein with highly specific sudar moieties (I am assuming that the lectins have sugar binding sites); while glycoproteins are proteins with sugar (covalently?) linked?

lectin is a protein that can bind to carbohydrates with high selectivity. For example, concanavalin A is a lectin with affinity for mannose residues in glycoproteins. dont no whether that helps
