GDP rising is a sign of economic growth. They kinda go together.

If the GDP drops, the economy is not growing.

GDP is a measure of the economic value produces by a country in a year. A growing GDP is a measure of a growing economy in the same way that a rising thermometer indicates that the air is warming.
