The fee-based model charges members fees, and this is the main source of revenue for the company; a dating service is a good example. A company with an intermediary model, such as Amazon.com, buys a finished product from another company and then sells it to consumers. A company with a community-based model charges members by allowing them to interact with other members who have a similar interest, such as playing a specific online game. A company that relies primarily on an advertising model generates customers through placing ads on other websites.
