1.  A small car uses hydraulic brakes to stop.  This means there is a small piston of 6.0 cm radius located behind the brake pedal that pushes down on an incompressible fluid that is then connected to a 2nd piston of radius 33 cm that operates the brake pads of the car.  If the 1500 kg car needs to decelerate at 4.5 m/s2 to come to a stop, what force needs to be applied to the brake pedal?

2. An oscillator consists of a block of mass 0.500 kg connected to a spring. When set into oscillation with amplitude 35.0 cm, the oscillator repeats its motion every 0.500 s. Find (a) the period, (b) the frequency, (c) the angular frequency, (d) the spring constant, (e) the maximum speed, and (f) the magnitude of the maximum force on the block from the spring.

3. At a very loud rock concert you measure the sound level at 120 dB.  A jack hammer typically operates at a sound level of 92 dB.  How many times more intense is the sound at the rock concert in comparison to the jack hammer?
