2 -- The best treatment for DVT is prevention. Early mobilization of the fracture and early ambulation of the patient is imperative. Frequent assessment of the injured extremity may lead to early recognition of DVT and prevent the formation of pulmonary embolus. Antiembolism stockings and sequential compression devices will increase venous return and prevent stasis of blood.
