Is it Curly/Plum or Curly;Plum when I am referring to phenotypes?  What about genotype when they're on the same chromosome and on different chromosomes?  And what if I am using the gene symbols --- is it Cy/Pm or Cy;Pm?  Help!

phenotype would be the observable and genotype the genes - that is the key point. You got that.

I would use the slash.
