I NEED SOMEBODY THAT IS UNDERSTANDS BIOCHEMISTRY!
I know that high fructose corn syrup and some other sweeteners made out of fructose (or other sugars ) can be bad for your metabolism because in the production of energy (glycolysis) they skip regulatory steps .
As  far as I understand Aspartame is an Amino Acid. So how does the metabolism of aspartame work and why is it bad for your body?
Any interesting ideas would be welcome
THANKS!

People say it is bad for you because the carboxylic acid of the phenylalanine part of aspartame is a methyl ester.  This gets hydrolysed to the dipeptide and methanol.  Methanol is oxidized to formaldehyde by alcohol oxidases, and this is supposedly responsible for aspartame toxicity.

One would have to drink gallons of diet soda every day to get anytwhere near a toxic dose of methanol from aspartame.  It's really not that bad for you.
