The law of conservation of energy states that the total amount of energy in an isolated system remains constant over time.

In nuclear decay, the amount of energy before and after the decay remain constant. In fact, charge and atomic mass number are conserved. Mass itself (atomic mass units, grams or kg) is not conserved, since in each process some mass is converted to energy according to the relationship E = mc2. So, you can convert energy into mass, and vice versa.
