Use the Henderson?Hasselbalch equation to calculate the pH of the solution:

A solution that is 0.800 % C5H5N by mass, and 0.990 % C5H5NHCl by mass.

in 100 gram of solution,

moles of C5H5N = 0.8/(5 * 12 + 5 + 14) = 0.010126582278481013

moles of C5H5NHCl = 0.99/(5 * 12 + 6 + 14 + 35.5) = 0.00857142857

Kb of C5H5N = 1.7 * 10^-9

pOH = pKb + log (salt/base)

pH = 14 - (pKb + log (salt/base))

pH = 14 - (- log (1.7 * 10^-9) + log (0.00857142857/0.010126582278481013))

pH = 5.3
