I have a problem like this:

A south bound train accelerates at 5 km/h/s. What will be its final velocity after 2s,5s and 10s if the initial velocity is 5 km/h?

How do i solve for it?

Can i have the formulas as well?

Let v = final velocity after time t second; u = initial velocity at t = 0 s Let a = acceleration
Formula is v = u =1*t so after 2 seconds v(2) = 5 + 5*2 = 15 km/h and similarly
v(5) = 5+5*5 = 30 km/h and v(10) = 5 + 5*10 = 55 km/h

We need to calculate the acceleration first:

Assuming that the acceleration is uniform i.e. the train is gaining velocity uniformly then

acceleration (a) = {final velocity(v) - initial velocity(u)}/time taken (t)

hence v = (u + at)

here initial velocity(u) = 5 x 3600/1000 = 18 m/s

ans acceleration a = 5000/3600 = 1.39 m/s^2
i.e
After 2 s

 final velocity (v) = 5 + 2 x 1.39 = 7.78 m/s

Similarly we cancalculate for 5s and 10 s
