since carbon dioxide is a colourless and odourless gas, how can we distinguish it between oxygen and nitrogen?

Depending on what tools you have. I would try freezing/liquid temperature first. Carbon Dioxide is larger than the other two so it should for a solid before the other two even form a liquid. If not you can expose it to water and Carbon Dioxide will turn water acidic (carbonic acid) the other two will dissolve in the water but not react with it. Or you could just use a carbon dioxide sensor....
