1,2,3,4 -- The elevation in white blood count is an indicator of an infectious process somewhere in the body. Complaints of severe abdominal pain, ambulating slowly with legs apart, and tenderness upon palpation of the abdomen may indicate pelvic inflammatory disease (PID). PID in women can lead to internal abscesses, chronic pain, ectopic pregnancy, and infertility. The disease may spread into the blood and joints and cause permanent disability if left untreated. The serum potassium levels are within normal range and are not indicative of complications of the disease.
