I got this mixed review for algebra that i have NO idea what to do in. I figured out some of the problems but the other ones are confusing me. can someone please help me out with the answers or explain to me what I need to do? thank you Slight Smile

hey

you're on the right track with ur y=mx+b

all you need to do it seems is understand how to find m, the gradient

this is simply the "rise over run" ie, how much does the line rise over a certain distance

then all you do is plug this m into the eqation, along with b (the y intercept)

so for example, q 6, there is a rise of 1 unit for ever two across, therefore the gradient "m" = rise over run, = 1/2. the y intercept =-2, therefore the equation of the line y=mx+b = (1/2)x+(-2) = x/2-2

4;y=5x-3(parallel means same slope)
6;y=1/2x-2(y intcpt is -2 & slope is the tangent of the angle the line makes with the x axis )
7;the line passes thru 2 points (0,2)&(1,0)
so the equ of line is : (y-2)/(-2)=x
so the equ is y=-2x+2
