THE ANSWER IS D. When a company anticipates the changing preferences of its customers and satisfies these preferences before its competitors, those companies are poised for success. They do not work backwards in dealing with the public by developing and producing products and then creating the marketing for those products after the fact. They do not create a buyer's market where the demand is high and the supply is low because companies cannot shape the market in that way. And they have a greater advantage in adapting to meet the needs of customers that they have identified and are better able to satisfy those customer preferences.
