Include all steps at both the DNA and RNA level and the molecules involved in the process as well as their function.  PLEASE HELP!!

once the gene is transcribed the transcript is very long because it contains many copies of each segment (constant region of light chain and heavy chain, variable region of light and heavy chain for Ig M and e there is also the j chain). since only one copy per segment is required, splicing occurs in which randomly acopy of each is joined to the other segments and extra copies are spliced out resulting in an mRNA molecule that will eventually be translated in to the Ig.
