I ask a similar question yesterday -that was about the INCREASE in metabolic rate and the answer i received
was this...... Thank you bio_man!

"An increase in metabolic rate causes more CO2 to form as a metabolic waste product, this results in the formation of more H+ and lowers blood pH. Elevated plasma HCO 3and pH causes metabolic alkalosis and low plasma HCO3 and pH causes acidosis."

My question is for a DECREASE in the body's body's metabolic rate- is it the opposite?

If metabolism has slowed down, that means you're not converting glucose into energy. Since that's the case, yes, it would be the opposite.
