I think you're talking about Feed back inhibition. In this process, the end product inhibits the reactants or the catalyst when the end product level is high thus putting a stop to further production and waste of energy.

Eg: when there's sufficient amt of Thyroxin, thyroxine blocks the activity of pituitary as pituitary secretes a hormone that stimulates the thyroid gland to produce thyroxine.
