- 4 stages: proliferative (endometrium growth); ovulatory (graafian follicle rupture/ovum release); secretory (progesterone and estrogen levels increase); menstrual (sloughing of the endometrium).

on day 1 the lining of the uterus detaches this is when a period happens because an egg hasnt been fertillised.
On day 4 the lining of the uetus begins to thicken again to recieve a fertillised egg.
on day 14 ovulation occurs this is when the woman is most fertile.
Day 14-28 the endometrium stays thick and ready for a fertillised egg. if no egg arrives the cycle repeats itself.
