Explain how pure samples of each component could be obtained by preparative gas chromatography from a mixture of two components even if complete resolution of the peaks is not obtained.

In preparative gas chromatography, for the mixture of components, we add some same components individually by known quantity. Now we can analyse them by gas chromatography and get different areas with different different RT values. Finally, by comparing with standard component peak areas, we can calculate the components individually present inthe mixture of sample.
