e. Because both have two pairs of parallel sides.  

Only quadrilaterals that have the above quality can be calculated with the bh formula.

To begin with a rectangle and non-rectangular parallelgram can not be similar and secondly the measurement of Height for the parallelgram is not a measure of its side but a measure of the Distance between opposite sides.

So a) and d) are both eliminated.

  A trapezoid is a quadrilateral with a base and a height perpendicular to the base but can not be caculated with the formula bh so b) and c) are insufficient without further qualification.

Actually, all four answers are wrong.  GeezerBill approached this, but didn't come out and say it.
