Display advertising includes banner ads in a variety of sizes.  Advertisers place banner ads on websites of interest to the target audience (user target content).  A banner ad appears similar to an ad on an outdoor board or even a print ad with a limited amount of copy.  Not much copy can be included in a banner.  The combination of brand name, short message, and visual must convince the user to click on the ad, which links to another website.  The first is a rectangle ad (large ad, slightly wider than tall).  It offers more depth than a standard-sized banner.  The second is a big box ad, (offers greater width and depth to an ad).  The third is a leaderboard or super banner ad (stretches across the webpage) and the fourth is a skyscraper ad (tall, slim, oblong-shaped ad at the side of a webpage).
