which of the following statements about signal transduction is correct?
A:Receptor tyrosine kinases are usually activated by dimerization and cis-phosphorylation
B:The diversity of heterotrimetric G protein complexes is primarily conferred by various Gb and Gr subunits
C:Nuclear hormone receptors translocate into nucleus upon ligand binding-activation,and can directly bind DNA to regulate gene expression
D:PIP2 is catalyzed by phospholipase C to generate IP3 and triglycerides
E:binding of catalytic subunit of PKA by the regulatory subunit activates PKA enzymatic activity

I'm certain about C, D, and E. Not B or A. Any thoughts?

I've never heard of cis phosphorylation of tyrosine kinase, but I have heard of trans.

In terms of E, look at this illustration.  When cAMP is available, the subunit dissociates, causing it to become active

You're right about DAG, it shouldn't be triglyceride. Good eye!

option E:it says binding of  regulatory subunit .
so it should inactivate PKA enzymatic activity.

Are you suggesting it should be the opposite way around?

Dissociation not binding of regular subunit make the enzyme active. This just what I mean. Slight Smile

Apparently,option E is wrong.
