The Sapir-Whorf hypothesis suggests that language helps us think and that culture and language are bound together. In essence, culture influences the way we use and interpret language, and language
influences how we use and interpret thought. Two theories guide the Sapir-Whorf hypothesis:(1 )
linguistic relativism, which means that language determines thought, and (2 ) linguistic relativity,
which is the theory that people from different language communities perceive the world differently. In
essence, language shapes our reality and how we interact with others.
