We do not breath carbon dioxide so it is an unacceptable answer, that is rather a waste product. If anyone can offer a more in detail answer such as the processes which occur for the carbon to end up in the human body, that would be great and much thanks in advance!!!

Carbon based compounds predominate in the moist parts of human and animal bodies, but this carbon does not get in through respiration.  We eat carbon compounds in the form of animal and plant materials.

The respiratory system breathes in oxygen and breathes out carbon dioxide, along with numerous other gasses.

All of the above is very simplified.  Take the course in vertebrate physiology.

Carbon dioxide in the atmosphere is taken in by plants, and they plants use it to make simple sugars and carbohydrates. Humans comsume the plants.

Continuing the process, we break down the plant molecules and release CO2, starting the process over again.
