The judge dismissed the libel suit that a movie director filed against a journalist. The suit was based on an article the journalist wrote five years earlier that quoted statements from a police report.

Which affirmative defense is illustrated in the scenario? Why did the judge not allow the director's case to proceed?

  a) Statute of limitations; because the judge felt the period to file the suit had expired
  b) Truth; because the judge felt that the journalist was saying a universal truth and the case had no foundation to stand on
  c) Qualified privilege; because the judge felt the journalist was entitled to quote from an official police report
  d) Identification; because the judge felt the director was not properly identified in the article
