Both are launched from the same launching pad (Pad 39-B)

Both generate thrust in excess of 5 million pounds upon launch.

Both are designed to carry men and payload into orbit.

Differences....
The Saturn 5 carried all it's fuel internally; the shuttle carries the majority of it's fuel in an external tank.  The Saturn 5 was designed to be a 'throw-away' vehicle - none of it was to be re-used. The shuttle was all reusable except the external tank.  The Saturn 5 had a single mission in mind - getting men & machines to the moon; the shuttle was a 'truck', designed for large payloads, retrieving satellites, ferrying crews to space, on-site repairs, and even crew rescue.

Similarities: Both used liquid hydrogen and oxygen in their main engines; both provided heavy lift for cargo + crew into earth orbit; both were manufactured by multiple outside contractors coordinated by NASA.

Differences: Shuttle included solid-fuel booster rockets for additional thrust, whereas Saturn V used three stages to accomplish additional thrust and insertion into distant orbits; Shuttle provided large two-way cargo capacity whereas Saturn V provided higher orbits (including to the moon) with 3rd-stage engine; Shuttle flew back to earth using wings and lifting body, whereas Apollo capsule used parachute recovery.
