In what ways can a psychology degree help me get a job as a dental hygienist?
what kinds of jobs can i get with a bachelor's degree in psychology?
I'm planning on first getting an associate's degree, (what kind would i need to get a bachelors in psychology?) and then studying for like two years or whatever i need to do to be a dental hygienist. Would a bachelor's help me have an advantage in getting the job? would the credits from the associate's degree transfer to the requirements for the dental hygienist program?
because i want to be a dental hygienist but i want to have a bachelors for sure and i'm very interested in psychology. any info or tips are much appreciated cuz im very confused lol. thanks

I'm getting my associates right now in psychology because I want to be a psychologist. What I'm actually getting though is an associates degree in Liberal Arts with a psychology option. You can't do much of anything with an associates when you are a psychology major. Any associates degree involving psychology is what you would need to move onto a bachelors degree. When going after your master in psychology that is when you pick what you want to specialize in such as cognitive, school, clinical, counseling, etc. Once you have a bachelors degree you can more then likely begin to look for a job involving psychology such as social work and things along those lines. Being a dental hygienist and majoring in psychology are two very different things though. Now, you could minor in psychology if you are interested in it but when it comes down to picking which you want to major in you'd have to pick one or the other.

B.S. worthless in the mental health field
need at least a Masters or a degree in Nursing as an R.N. with specialization in mental health.

try a B.S.sociology degree and you will get to see partial mental health fields on the grunt level

Psychology will do nothing for you if you are planning to become a dental hygienist.  Dental hygiene programs require one (or none at all) introductory psychology course.  That's it.  It would be a complete waste of time for you to go to school for psychology to become a dental hygienist.  Dental hygiene is not just two years.  The program is two years, but you need to go to school for two years to get into the program (doing chemistry and biology courses).

It will not help you at all to become a dental hygienist except that you won't have to take things like english and intro to psych again.
You need to take specific prereqs for dental hygiene and apply. They don't care if you have a degree in psychology because it is a TOTALLY different field.
