400 *12*12=57600 (this is the amount of inches squared that one gallon of paint will paint)

total number of paint cans needed:
253278/57600=4.397 cans.

So in other words you need 5 cans of paint

This user is correct, but you could have also done it another way:

You could have divided 253,278 by 144 (since there are 144 inches in a square foot), and got 1758.875.

Then, you could have divided 1458.875 by 200, and gotten 4.3971875.

If you round to a whole number, you will need 5 cans of paint.
