The nurse performs Homans’ maneuver by flexing the knee and sharply dorsiflexing the foot. A positive Homans’ sign would be:
1.   cramping of the toes.
2.   resisting dorsiflexion.
3.   pain in the calf area.
4.   blanching of the sole.
