Is the carbohydrate portion of a glycoprotein always projecting from the outer leaflet?  Can a glycoprotein be attached to the inner leaflet without the carbohydrate portion extending out of the cell?

The carbohydrate portion, as far as I know, is always projected outwards into the extracellular space. That's the extent of what I know when it comes to glycoproteins.
