Why did China intervene in the Korean War?
 
  a. It wanted to seize control of the warring nation.
  b. It hoped to open new markets for trade there after the war.
  c. It wanted to bring the war to a speedy end.
  d. It feared that the U.S., which had already intervened on South Korea's behalf, would attack China, too.
  e. It feared the entry of the Soviet Union into the conflict.
