Explanation:
1. The nurse then instructs the woman to push gently so that the rest of the body can be born quickly.
2. Immediately after birth of the head, the nurse suctions the baby's mouth, throat, and nasal passages.
3. The nurse then exerts gentle upward traction on the fetal head to aid in the birth of the posterior shoulder.
4. The nurse then places one hand on each side of the head and exerts gentle downward traction until the anterior shoulder passes under the symphysis pubis.
