The objective measurement of service quality gives managers the information they need to modify or improve their service delivery. To objectively measure service levels in a restaurant or foodservice operation, managers use three steps. In the first step, managers identify specific and measurable service objectives that are to be achieved within a specified time period. In the second step, managers choose effective measurement tools. In the third and final step, managers use the information they have obtained to take any actions they feel are needed to improve their operations' guest service delivery systems.
