One might expect that there would be a correlation between genome size and the complexity of an organism.
 
  However, some amphibia have genomes 10 the size of the human genome and even closely related species within phyla can have genome sizes that vary by orders of magnitude (e.g., flowering plants and amphibia). Give possible reasons for this variation.
  What will be an ideal response?

Ans: Genomes have significant amounts of DNA that are not involved in encoding polypeptides, including introns, intergenic regions, and repetitive DNA, mostly from transposons (sequences that randomly move from site to site in genomes). Additionally, some members of a phylum have genomes that have undergone a duplication event during evolution.
